  Suhas Singh Its so very imortant to achieve optimal approximation of the fractured segment....its not about compression in nailing...
  The approximation has to be done by thumping the bone ends after loosening the traction....or it can be also done by reverse mild hammwring of the jig once unilteral locking is achieved...its easy ....and if course dynamisation and Weight bearing assures union....good fixation....

  Mohsin Kazi Thanks for the valuable comments. I think the gap is due to the butterfly fragment. But next time I wd be more cautious abt reverse thumping.

  Kumar Vk I think this fracture reduces spontaneously by the pull of patellar tendon... reduction may be difficult if the obliquity is reverse... for such proximal#s make d entry point more proximal may be from d articular junction & more lateral....
